In 2006, I was featured on
Cranium.com for the
creative use of the game in my classroom. |
My Story:
-
I grew up in the itsy
bitsy town of Whitmore Lake just north of Ann Arbor and graduated
from Whitmore Lake High School. I was voted "Most Bubbly" in
my senior census, although it really was a tie with "Most Dramatic".
-
I earned my Bachelor of
Science (Science?!) degree from
Eastern Michigan University
in Ypsilanti with a major in "English and American Language and
Literature" and two minors in "Comprehensive Communications and
Theatre Arts" and "Writing".
-
I also earned my Masters of
Arts degree in Literature from Eastern Michigan University with
a focus on British Literature.
-
For my first two years, I taught
at Almont Junior/Senior High School, teaching Performing Arts I,
Performing Arts II, English 9, English 10, and 8th grade Performing
Arts. I also coached JV competitive cheerleading, advised the
drama club, and directed the theatrical productions.
-
Currently I teach English
9a, 9b and 12a at
Caledonia High School.
In the past, I have taught Journalism, Theatre Arts and American Literature at CHS. I coached middle school competitive cheer.
Interests:
-
Besides teaching, I also
enjoy fitness activities, performing in community theatre, dancing, traveling, camping
and hiking, swimming and fishing, reading and writing, and--of
course--spending time with my friends, family and cat, Bamboo.
-
Favorite books: The
Mists of Avalon, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Age of Innocence, Moby Dick, anything by Shakespeare, and the Harry Potter series
